Respect, Bead Journal Project, bead embroidery, by Robin Atkins, bead artist

Respect

Visual Journaling
2007 Bead Journal Project, October

This piece is the fifth in a series of 12 made for the 2007 Bead Journal Project. It is an example of how one can tell a story with symbols. Respect represents a need for change in the way I view my body and a move toward greater respect for it. The feather is both literal (I found it on the second day of a new daily walking program) and symbolic (flying away from my old habbits and thoughts). The concepts of telling stories and visual journaling are featured in the "Inspirations" section of the book.
