This image shows that the grieving heart faces open to reveal a photo-collage
of body bags filled with people dead of Covid-19.

The words on the back of this piece are from a poem I wrote on May 1, 2020,
about how obsessed I became with reading and understanding the death and case numbers
in local, national, and world news during the early months of the Pandemic:

"Numbers in the news.
Writing poems in an attempt to grasp the meaning of the numbers,
particularly the nomber of people who have died of Covid-19
opens my heart to a mighty load."

wool felt, cotton fabric, photo collage, embroidery, pearls, 2.5 x 3.5 inches
